Mission San Francisco de Asis
Popularly known as Mission Dolores, the oldest intact building in the City of San Francisco and the only intact Mission Chapel in the chain of 21 established under the direction of Father Serra.
OPEN: Daily 9:00pm - 4:00pm, seven days a week except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. We are open until 4:30pm from May 1 until October 31. On Good Friday we are open 9:00pm-12:00 noon. Easter Sunday we are open 10:00am-1:00pm.
SUGGESTED DONATION: Tourists, School Children, Pilgrims, and Neighbors are invited to visit the Old Mission. Suggested donation is $3.00 per adult and $2.00 per child. An excellent 40 minute audio tour in English is available for an additional $5.00.
DOCENT TOURS: By reservation only for groups of ten or more. It is suggested that you make reservations 4-6 weeks in advance. Docents are volunteers and availability is limited. A deposit is required. Please telephone the curator at (415) 621-8203.
FIELD TRIPS: Mission Dolores welcomes hundreds of school groups every year. A one hour guided tour is available with at least four weeks notice and subject to availability. Due to the large numbers of students visiting the Old Mission and concerns for the safety of visitors and the priceless cultural treasures of Mission Dolores, schools must have reservations. Suggested donation for students is $2.00 per student with an advance deposit required. Field trips are usually scheduled at 9:30am, 11:00am, and 1:00pm, subject to availability. CURATOR: The curator of Old Mission San Francisco de Asis is Brother Guire Cleary, S.S.F. His office hours are generally 9:00am-3:00pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The telephone for the curator is (415) 621-8203.
PARKING: White zone strictly enforced for tour buses, loading and unloading passengers. Limited street parking for two hours on weekdays is available in the neighborhood. The school yard is open for parking during business hours on weekends (enter at 445 Church Street). School buses must find street parking.

Mission Dolores Park 1-1/2 blocks south on Dolores St. Tables, benches, picnic area, gymboree activities, tennis courts, large grass areas. Castro District three blocks northwest. Twin Peaks five blocks north. Many restaurants within two blocks.
SCHOOL REPORT INFORMATION PACKETS: Every year Mission Dolores responds to hundreds of letters from school students asking for information about Mission Dolores. Unfortunately Mission Dolores cannot respond to email and telephone requests for school report information. We do not have the ability to respond to individual questions or respond to requests by telephone or email. GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH: Unfortunately Mission Dolores cannot respond to requests for genealogical research of its records. However, we are happy to direct you to other resources.
